DO YOU ACCEPT INEXPERIENCED PLAYERS?
Yes. BSUNC does not screen out any child who wishes to learn and play netball and we encourage potential new players to come along to a training session as a trial to confirm that it something that they are truly interested in.
We recommend that children new to the game have at least one season (i.e. half year) of training before they begin playing regularly in the local competition. Children who have a solid athletic/sports background (not necessarily in netball) may be accelerated, on a case by case basis, to play competitive games in their first season. Less experienced players may have an opportunity to play competitive games in their first season where there is an expected shortage of players for any match day.
Please note that inexperienced players who will be going up an age level the following year (spring season only) are allowed by the association to play the last 3 games of the season without having to pay VNA, in order to get game experience for their upcoming new age level season. This may have an impact on the current team if the team is full which may cause one or more players to have less court time or have a bye. If this occurs, please speak to your coach/team manager if you have any concerns. We hope to have your understanding if this occurs as our club encourages and promotes new members who wish to play competition and wish to make the transition as smooth as possible for them.
Remember, we all need to start somewhere.

MY CHILD IS AN EXPERIENCED PLAYER WHO PLAYS ELSEWHERE BUT WANTS TO PLAY MORE COMPETITIVE GAMES. CAN THEY JOIN BSUNC?
Yes. We are happy to accommodate any child looking to play more netball. On a case by case basis, the requirement to train with BSUNC on Monday’s may be waived by the team coach where a player is part of a higher-grade representative team.
